Release Notes
Additional ATI Graphic Accelerator Cards
If you own other ATI graphic accelerator cards (XCLAIM™ VR, NEXUS™ GA, XCLAIM™ GA), install the latest version of software for that card before installing the Xclaim™ 3D software. You can download ATI software from ATI's web site:
<http://www.atitech.com>
Uninstalling Xclaim™ 3D software
The process of uninstalling only removes the active ATI Xclaim™ 3D components. Other ATI multimedia components, not located in the Extensions and Control Panel folders, or installed by other ATI graphic accelerator cards must be removed manually, or through other uninstall procedures. You must restart your computer after uninstalling components in order to clean up the Trash and clear any active ATI extensions.
3D Settings
If you change the 3D Quality, 3D Compression, or 3D Sync settings in the ATI Displays control panel, the change is not saved when you restart your computer. Any change you make goes back to the default setting when you restart or power on your computer.
For Users Experiencing Sound Corruption in 3D Applications
Disabling Virtual Memory in the Memory Control Panel may resolve this problem.
QuickDraw 3D Performance
QuickDraw 3D performance varies from application to application. To ensure optimal performance, look for applications that have been optimized for QuickDraw 3D version 1.5.1 or later.
Quality Setting with some 3D games
Setting the ATI Displays control panel Quality setting to Standard will improve the 3D graphics quality of some 3D games.
Playing MechWarrior 2 (RAVE Edition)
When using MechWarrior 2 (RAVE edition), which shipped with Apple's Power Macintosh 6500 computer, use the built-in video.
Playing HAVOC
When using HAVOC you may experience either an extreme slowdown in game play, or an out of memory error. If this occurs, increase the application memory size, found in the Get Info dialog box.
Popup Menu and Hot Keys
Popup Menu and Hot Keys remain inactive during the display of a dialog window. For example, while using the Monitors & Sound control panel, the Popup Menu and Hot Keys are displayed, but disabled.
ATI Popup Menu
The ATI Popup Menu only displays the valid and safe modes available for the monitor(s) attached to ATI accelerator cards. Additional modes may be accessed through the Monitors & Sound control panel or the Control Strip.
Screen Sizing and Positioning
If the screen positioning is incorrect after changing display resolutions or refresh rates, you must manually adjust your display controls. Please consult the manual that came with your monitor for instructions on how to do this for your display.
